Scholarship Initiative by GSN
Since 2014/2015, Gurung Samaj Netherlands, in coordination with Tamu Cultural Foundation, Nepal, has been continuously operating a Scholarship Endowment Fund with the noble objective of providing scholarships to two deserving students from the Gurung community—one male and one female student—from economically disadvantaged, talented, and academically deserving backgrounds in each academic session.Under this program, a total of six talented students have benefited from the scholarship to date. The program will continue in the future in a sustainable and well-managed manner.
Financial assistance collected for medical treatment was handed over to Mr. Krishna Bahadur Gurung, a well-known artist, composer, musician, and singer within the Gurung community, who has made significant contributions to the preservation, promotion, and development of the Gurung language, religion, traditions, and culture through music and the performing arts. He is the creator of hundreds of songs in the Tamu language, including “Tamu Hyulsa Kwe” (the Gurung National Song).An amount of NPR 142,410 (One Hundred Forty-Two Thousand Four Hundred Ten Rupees only), collected from the members of Gurung Samaj Netherlands for his medical treatment, was handed over on 1 September 2023 at his residence in Simalchaur, Pokhara, by Mr. Prithvi M Gurung, the then General Secretary and President of Gurung Samaj Netherlands.On the occasion, senior artist Mr. Krishna Bahadur Gurung expressed his sincere gratitude to the Gurung Samaj Netherlands family for their generous support and assistance.

Sports Equipment Support to the Kaski Volleyball Association
On 16 August 2022, on behalf of Gurung Samaj Netherlands, and the then President, Mr. Krishna Bahadur Gurung, and the then General Secretary, Mr.Prithvi M. Gurung, jointly handed over sports equipment to Mr. Bishnu Bahadur Gurung, President of the Kaski District Volleyball Association.The donated sports materials included eight volleyballs, three nets, and one pump. The assistance was provided with the intention of contributing, even in a small way, to the development and promotion of sports activities.The handover program was attended by the Treasurer of the Kaski District Volleyball Association as well as participating players and young athletes.During the program, Mr. Bishnu Bahadur Gurung, President of the Kaski District Volleyball Association, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Gurung Samaj Netherlands family for their generous support and contribution.
Establishment of a Scholarship Endowment Fund
Gurung Samaj Netherlands established a long-term Scholarship Endowment Fund for underprivileged and deserving students through contributions collected from the society’s office bearers and members. In February 2026, an amount of NPR 351,076.50 (Three Hundred Fifty-One Thousand Seventy-Six Rupees and Fifty Paisa) was jointly handed over online by the President, Mr. Prithvi M. Gurung, and Vice President, Mr. Amir Gurung, to the Principal and members of the School Management Committee of Durga Secondary School, located at Lausa, Kanchan-3, Rupandehi District, for the benefit of two students studying at the school.The operation and management of this Endowment Fund will be carried out by Durga Secondary School in coordination with Gurung Samaj Netherlands. We have also received confirmation that, starting from this year, two underprivileged and deserving students have been selected, and their education has already commenced under this scholarship program.
